Having first tasted Top 40 chart success in the UK and the USA as lead singer in UK blue eyed soul band The Kane Gang, Martin went on to establish himself as one of the UK’s top songwriters from the 90s onwards when he was a key writer behind hits such as ‘Lifted’ (which was nominated for an Ivor Novello award as Best Song) ‘Loving Every Minute’ and ‘Raincloud’ for the Lighthouse Family whose 1995 debut release was certified six-times-Platinum by the BPI. Martin collaborated with James Morrison on his hugely successful multi platinum Number One debut album “Undiscovered” (including the singles ‘Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore’ and ‘Undiscovered’) as well as his critically acclaimed sophomore album Songs For You, Truths For Me (‘If You Don’t Wanna Love Me,’ ‘Fix The World Up For You’ and ‘Love Is Hard’). On Morrison’s third studio album, The Awakening Martin contributed lead single ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ plus ‘6 Weeks’ (with Steve Robson) and ‘Say Something Now’ and ‘Beautiful Life’) (with American super producer Greg Kurstin). This album again debuted at Number One in the UK chart.
Martin realised a childhood dream when Tina Turner recorded his song “Open Arms” as the lead single from her 2004 greatest hits compilation “All The Best” which sold over 5 million copies worldwide. The song continues to be featured in the long running hit musical “Tina”
Martin has co-written and produced (with Adam Argyle) numerous tracks on numerous Olly Murs multi platinum, number one albums including singles ‘Busy’ and ‘Oh My Goodness’. Brammer has also worked with artists such as Ella Eyre, Karen Harding, Mr. Hudson, Beverly Knight, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Melanie C, Josh Kumra, Julian Velard and many others.
In 2013 Martin was co-composer of the official anthem for the FA Premier , an orchestral piece which ran for three years.
Many of his tunes have been used in adverts for major brands such as Marks & Spencers, Nissan, General Motors, Bayer etc.
In 2024 he decided to play his first live shows in 40 years as part of The Kane Gang to much critical acclaim and they began writing new material for that project in collaboration with Field Music
