Born in 1959 in Eggenburg, Austria, Martin Brem had an early calling at age 10, joining a classical choir, Altenburger Sängerknaben, as a soprano.
Evolving into a baritone, he began his professional career as a performing artist, released a few records and represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980 and 1981. Cured from all lofty ideas about pop-stardom, Martin left Austria in 1983 to join Munich-based ME/SOUNDS magazine as a music journalist and editor.
In the early 1990s, he served as Marketing Director at Phonogram/Mercury Records in Hamburg, then moved to London in 1995 as Vice President of International Marketing for Sony Music Entertainment. He returned to Germany in 1997 as Managing Director of Columbia Recordsand SONY CLASSICAL.
Following the sudden death of his wife in 2001, Martin took a sabbatical to care for their two sons. During this time, he developed SAI SO, a Japanese-inspired fashion and lifestyle brand he and his late wife had started in 1998. After selling the brand in 2008, he became Managing Director of the consultancy firm BrandEngineeringsolutionsand co-founded all2gethernow e.V., a Berlin-based platform promoting new business models for the music industry.
In 2012, Martin joined Red Bull Media House, located both in Santa Monica, California, and Salzburg, Austria, as Head of Global Music Services, where he built the award-winning music catalogue SOUNDS OF RED BULL and developed platforms to innovate along the music copyright value chain.
In 2026, now at retirement age, Martin founded Kraulpelz & Zirkuspferd, a management consultancy business supporting passion projects in music, education, and beyond.
