I started as a chemist, found my way in to computer science, from there in to neuroscience. I have worked in climate change research as (what might be considered) a data scientist. In parallel I help people develop their research and public engagement skills in workshops and CPD sessions.

I have been developing transdisciplinary and collaborative projects with people from a wide cross section of different disciplines for more than 30 years; working with theologians and philosophers, painters and musicians, biologists and astrophysicists on a range of engaging, inventive and irreverent projects. The common aim of these efforts is to get everyone involved in the wider debate about science and art, research and creativity, and what it means to be a citizen of a technologically advanced and productive human community.

I have experience in the national print and broadcast media, at science festivals, in schools, in the academic community, and in public. I am an award winning STEM ambassador, and multiple winner and finalist in national SciCom competitions.

It is essential when assembling a team for a truly transdisciplinary project that you co-opt not only subject specialists but also some members with experience of promoting porosity in subject barriers, of walking freely and comfortably in different communities of discourse, and encouraging others to do the same.

I have developed, and delivered, research and public engagement projects for the Royal Institution, the British Council, Oxford University, the University of Reading, the Institute of Physics, the Wellcome trust, and many others.
