I'm the mother of four beautiful children. Three boys, and a spunky little girl. I had my first child when I was 17 years old, and that experience has shaped who I am today. I have managed to complete three degrees; an A.A. in Social Sciences, a B.A. in Child Development, and an M.A. in Education. I am a teacher, a writer, & an avid reader. I love the little things in life such as a runner’s high, an evening walk, a good novel, stimulating conversation, the ocean, a mountain breeze, warm cookies straight out of the oven, the sound of children laughing, & the smell of rain on the pavement.

What I want you to know is that, I am not the only one…through my career, in my neighborhood, and in social networks, I have found countless others like me. Young parents who have transformed their “tragedies” into triumphs. Parents who are overcoming odds and social expectations all while balancing school, work, and life demands. I am humbled by each and every one of them.

I believe in the ability of young mothers & fathers to parent responsibly, lovingly, and effectively. I have seen evidence of such parenting in my life, and the lives of people around me….
