Phillip attended Colorado Theological Seminary, receiving his M.A. degree in Christian Counseling.

He has been named a Professional Clinical Member of the National Christian Counselors Association, NCCA Licensed Pastoral Counselor, NCCA Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor as well as a Certified Temperament Counselor. He is also certified in four units of Clinical Pastoral Education from the College of Pastoral Supervision & Psychotherapy a theologically based covenant community, dedicated to "Recovery of Soul."
