Martin Jamison

Rochester, New York, United States

I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh, PA area. I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1986 with an Associate Degree in Visual Communications and from Point Park College in 1990 with a Bachelor Degree in Visual Art and Design. I then completed my Post Baccalaureate Degree at Point Park College focusing on Elementary Education.

I currently live with my wife and two children in Upstate New York.

I love working as a graphic designer. Letter spacing (yes, tracking AND kerning) is important to me. When I see a great illustration my first impulse is to back-engineer it (you know, take it apart in my mind to figure out how the artist pulled it off). For me, discovering creative new ways to communicate through design is fun while meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations is a matter of self respect.

I have had the pleasure of designing for a variety of clients covering the spectrum from B2B through B2C, from print to online, logo design to car wraps, static graphics to flash animation. As for typography, I cut my teeth working for a design firm that started out as a typesetting shop.

All I need is a complete set of specs and I'll add my creativity, my advanced skills in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash along with my skills with traditional media to achieve outstanding results. As an added bonus, I even come with a pretty good mind for writing.

In fact, I love to write about my experiences as a graphic designer and illustrator. To read some of my articles and to view my portfolio, visit my blog site at martinjamison.blogspot.com
