Martin Sumichrast

A respected private venture capital and angel investor, Martin Sumichrast focuses on mid-stage emerging sectors such as real estate development, manufacturing, and social-based technologies. He has taken part in numerous transactions that encompass international business and mergers and acquisitions. Martin Sumichrast is also the co-author of popular books such as The New Complete Book of Homebuying and Opportunities in Financial Careers.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Mr. Sumichrast worked as an author and editor for a company that published real estate-focused newsletters with the American Bankers Association and, subsequently, in partnership with the Arthur Anderson Real Estate Services Group. As CEO of USA Builders, he was involved in major privatization projects following the Soviet Union’s collapse. These included real estate development ventures such as the Na Visluni subdivision in Prague.

In 1993, Mr. Sumichrast became a co-founder of the Czech Fund, which financed a number of privatization initiatives. One successful investment involved the acquisition of Prague’s Hotel Fortuna, which was the first Eastern European hotel to be selected as a Choice Hotels International, Inc., “Quality Hotel.” Martin Sumichrast ultimately transitioned the firm into the international brokerage firm, Global Capital Partners, Inc. He currently owns the family office, Washington Capital, LLC, and is an independent trustee with the Babson Capital Global Short Duration High Yield Fund.
