Despite a near universal understanding on at least some level that the world in which we live is a digital world and that digital technologies and the internet of things will issue in a radically new world of opportunities and experiences for most people on our planet, here in the Scottish Borders, you could easily reach the conclusion that many people are oblivious to this. The Scottish government along with other national governments around the world knows the future is digital and is trying to address the future positively and help the digital economy of Scotland grow. Industry and government understand that our future is digital and that all young people today should learn digital skills to realise the potential this digital future offers us all. Our collective economic future depends on this.

IamDigital is a Social enterprise based in the Scottish Borders that was formed to raise the digital ambition across the Scottish Borders and to provide high quality digital education to the people of the Borders. At the moment Basic Digital literacy skills for the vast majority of the population of the Borders are poor and our young people are not being taught the digital skills they need. Computing Science as a subject on the national curriculum in the borders is a shameful embarrassment. In 2014 less than 1% of our young people left school with a computing qualification. IamDigital is going to change things...
