Marufa Mithila
Technologist and renewable energy aritist in Honolulu, Hawaii
Marufa is a technologist and renewable energy artist. Currently she is working on the island of Moloka'i on Electricity and Water nexus towards achieveing 100% renewable energy by the year 2030. She is coordinating with department of Electrical Engineering, department of Economics and Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Before that she worked with HNEI for 3 years just after finishing a fellowship with the Asia Pacific Leadership Program at the East‐West Center inHawaii. At HNEI she participates in outreach coordination, and Asia‐Pacific partnershipdevelopments in the areas of rural electrification, renewables integration, smart gridtechnologies, energy efficiency and alternative fuels. She previously held various roles inprogram coordination with SK Johnson LLC, LPEP Renewable Energy Bangladesh, BangladeshCentre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) and in the World Health Organization’s (WHO) EHAprogram (Emergency Humanitarian Action) during the PostSidr (cyclone) Response, with workfocused on developing and implementing solutions in areas such as rural electrification, mini‐grids, biogas digesters, and energy efficiency projects. She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees inBiochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh.
Interested in regional coordination - South Asia, ASEAN, Africa and Pacific Island nations in the area of rural electrification, energy efficiency, agriculture and environment, water and food systems, climate change, microgrid/smart grid technologies and alternative fuels. Project planning, developments, integration and implementation in the Asia Pacific region.
Marufa is a musician, plays multiple music instruments and sings traditional and folk songs. Also she's fond of reading, helping people/humanity, making a difference, and overall a meaningful life.
