Maruf Rahman stands as a transformative force in Bangladesh’s manufacturing landscape, driving Rupsha Tyres & Chemicals Ltd. to prominence as the nation’s leading tyre and tube producer. Born on January 29, 1984, in Dhaka, Maruf has built on his father Shafiqur Rahman’s legacy—fusing visionary leadership, digital innovation, and thought-provoking writing to revolutionize the tyre industry.
Relocating to Banani in 1986, Maruf’s leadership potential surfaced early through youth sports initiatives and a 1999 alumni concert at Banani Bidyaniketan. After completing SSC and HSC in Business Studies, he pursued higher education in Australia, earning a diploma from the University of Wollongong and a marketing degree from Southern Cross University. His retail experience at Big W sharpened his understanding of consumer dynamics, later shaping his market strategies at Rupsha.
Appointed Executive Director in 2008, Maruf oversaw marketing, IT, and digital operations, complementing his brother Miraj’s focus on production and finance. Under their joint leadership, Rupsha diversified its product line from rickshaw tyres to include those for CNG auto-rickshaws, mishuks, and motorcycles. Maruf’s "quality-first" principle challenged the dominance of foreign brands and shifted the industry’s focus from price to performance.
Maruf pioneered digital transformation at Rupsha by developing customized operational software and designing its flagship website. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his digital push expanded the company's Facebook reach to over 400,000 followers. His Android app—the first by a tyre manufacturer in Asia—modernized customer engagement with features like product browsing, order tracking, and live communication.
A prolific writer, Maruf contributes regularly to Rupsha’s blog and Medium, offering insights into tyre care, eco-friendly mobility, and the future of AI-driven transport. His thought leadership positions Rupsha as more than a manufacturer—it’s an advocate for sustainable progress.
Beyond business, Maruf supports community development through sports sponsorships and youth engagement. Married to Ishrat Jahan since 2009 and father to Amina and Manaf, he blends tradition with innovation in all aspects of life, reshaping what it means to lead in Bangladesh’s industrial era.
