Marvin Hurwitz

Marvin Hurwitz has been advising retirees and people planning for retirement on their medical and financial needs since 1980. He served as an account executive for Dean Witter and as a financial, long term care and Medicare supplement specialist. He established and managed an investment and insurance program at Taneytown Bank & Trust in 1995.

From 1998 to 2002 Mr. Hurwitz was the Maryland Senior Planning Advisor and Long Term Care coordinator for VALIC. He advised retired teachers and health care employees on their long-term care and retirement savings needs.

After leaving VALIC in 2002 he developed a unique independent consulting practice aimed at helping retired individuals and others protect their savings and future income. He specializes in income and long term care planning.

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, he moved to Baltimore with his wife and two children in 1978 when he was appointed Director of Publications at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He has written numerous articles for local and national publications and has conducted many financial and retirement planning seminars.

Mr. Hurwitz has a B.A. from Boston Univeresity where he majored in Government and an M.S. degree in Journalism from Northwestern University.
