Marvin Storm

Marvin L Storm is recognized as a national business, entrepreneur and franchise expert with more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of entrepreneurship and franchising. He earned his B.S. in accounting and began his career with Deloitte Touche, a national accounting firm. Developing an interest in entrepreneurship, he left the accounting profession and founded an equipment leasing firm growing the company to over 50 employees and originating nearly $100M in equipment leases. During his leasing activities he became familiar with the franchise business model. After researching franchising, Marv became a unit franchisee for a specialty packaging and shipping franchise parlaying his successful management methods into a multi-unit franchise operation and eventually into becoming a regional franchisee. After completely developing his region, he founded Blackstone Hathaway Corporation as a specialty regional franchise marketing and management firm. Under his management, Blackstone Hathaway acquired five regional franchise concepts and awarded more than 100 unit franchise territories in California and Nevada. As a regional franchisee, he provided ongoing training and support for franchisees in the region. Because Blackstone Hathaway was the largest and most successful regional franchisee in one of the franchise systems it developed and managed, he was approached by the Board of Directors and asked if he had an interest in acquiring the franchise company. He decided that the timing was right and the challenge big enough that he acquired the franchise company. During the next five years Marv recruited a new management team, explored new markets, assisted under-performing franchisees to exit the system, and changed the strategic direction of the company from a retail-based company to a business-to-business franchise model, created a new franchise brand, launched a franchise technology service company and directed the company on a hyper growth curve. In order to position the company for the future, Marv initiated a management succession plan and installing successor CEOs in the retail and B2B subsidiaries and prepared the franchise companies for sale. By 2011, the sale of these two franchise companies was finalized.
