My name is MaryAnne Connor, a.k.a. Mac. I am the Founder and President of NightShift Street Ministries, where we – with the power of God – provide outreach services every night of the year to people struggling with homelessness and poverty in Surrey, British Columbia.

Every day, every night, is a struggle for survival. Not only for people living on the streets, but for so many people caught up in their own stories. The many stories I have collected over the years are what prompted me to write The Shift. Stories about struggle and survival, about those who made it and those who didn’t, about heartbreak and love. I’d like to share those stories with you.
