Equipped with a Bachelor of Arts from St. Lawrence University and a certificate in pension administration from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, Mary Brosmith served the financial industry as a retirement plan expert for over 13 years. After graduating from St. Lawrence, Mary Brosmith moved to Boston and gained a position as an Investor Communications Representative with Massachusetts Financial Services Company (now MFS Investment Management). In this role, she developed the basis for her expertise by advising shareholders and brokers on the requirements, legalities, and tax intricacies of different retirement plans.
Expanding on her expertise while gaining a variety of marketable skills, Mary Brosmith would serve MFS in three more positions: Retirement Plan Marketing Representative, Marketing Manager, and Assistant Vice President. Through the course of her employment, Mary Brosmith developed marketing and sales experience, deepened her understanding of various codes and legislation related to retirement plans, and efficiently planned and conducted presentations to share her knowledge.
Additionally, she created new designs for retirement plan products, ensured that MFS employees complied with certain government regulations, and established company-wide business procedures. After accumulating extensive experience with MFS, Mary Brosmith departed Boston to secure employment with New York City’s Salomon Smith Barney. As an Assistant Vice President, Mary Brosmith maintained responsibility for qualifying prospects for 401(k) plans, while assisting with product development and enhancement, and focusing on marketing and sales efforts. Transferring to Chicago, she functioned as a Pension Marketing Representative for Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, where she trained company staff on the legislative and technical details of 401(k) plans and set up informational meetings in a five-state area.
