Mary Burge
My name is Mary Burge. I’m a Senior at North Carolina Central University. My major is Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child and Family Relations. I’m currently a Childcare provider in Durham, N.C. I care for children 0-12 years of age. I have previously worked in a few childcare centers before I opened my own childcare home. I have over 18 years of experience with working with children. I have taking coursework at Mount Olive College prior to enrolling at North Carolina Central University. I earned an Associate in Science Degree in General Studies at Mount Olive College in 2012. In addition, I have achieved the educational qualifications to be certified by the North Carolina Institute for Child Development Professionals. My educational journey has made me knowledgeable in meeting children’s developmental needs. My ultimate goal as an early childhood professional is to provide a caring and nurturing environment suitable for physical, mental, and social growth so every child will attain full potential in these areas. I want to ensure I have made an impact on every child I have come into contact with. I believe I will make a difference in the field of early childhood education because teaching is my passion and I have a special love for children. When I began this journey as an educator, I made a commitment to challenge myself to rise above and beyond to guarantee every child in my class will have a well-rounded education. I will continue to keep an open mind because there’s so much to learn.
