Mary's legal career began with graduation from the University of Denver College of Law where she later was appointed to the adjunct faculty of law teaching courses in Evidence, Civil Procedure, Trial Tactics and Trial Moot Court. She served on the board of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association for 30 years. Her legal acumen is recognized with her certification as a Civil Trial Special by the National College of Trial Advocacy and as a Colorado Super Lawyer. She has lectured at dozens of legal seminars in continuing legal education across the United States and at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Mary served as a board member and later as Chair of the Board of the Lowell Whiteman School, a college preparatory high school in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; as a board member of the Yellowstone Association, an official partner with the National Park Service, located in Yellowstone National Park, which promotes preservation of the park through its sales of educational materials to park visitors and the operation of the Yellowstone Institute. Mary is a Master of Foxhounds of the Arapahoe Hunt and on the Board of Directors of the Masters of Foxhounds of America where she also serves as a judge at various hound shows. Mary is active in her alma mater, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, serving on various committees including on the Advisory Board of the International Law Journal. She chaired the acquisitions committee and served on the board of directors of the PUSH dinner, a benefit for Craig Hospital, a hospital dedicated to the rehabilitation of those with spinal cord and head injuries. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Saddle Up Foundation, a charity providing therapeutic riding experiences for the disabled. Mary is an active supporter of the Denver Dumb Friends League.
