Hi!! My name is Mary Frank Seagraves. I have been a very active person my whole life. I played softball and lacrosse. I was on the track and swim team, and grew up taking ballet and gymnastics classes. I think I have always been a super active person because of my passion to be involved and to be busy. This idea of being busy allowed me to be my best self and constantly challenge my mind to be strong.
In my sophomore year of high school, I was focusing my time on running track, specifically 300 meter and 100 meter hurdles. It was the sport I felt the most confident in and I was always in a healthy competitive mindset when I was on the track. Midway through the season, I took a bad fall when running hurdles during practice and broke my back. This is when I found the thing that has influenced the past three years of my life.
I started going to Pure Barre. It was a low impact workout that my doctors promised would help me. I fell in love with the involvement with people I was able to have, just like with sports. I started taking classes there and eventually started training to become a Pure Barre Instructor. It took time and mental strength. It was the same feeling of competition that I felt with sports. I started teaching classes at Pure Barre and was able to take my urge to be active and challenge my clients. Now they were strengthening their minds and becoming better versions of themselves.
I moved to Athens for college and spent my first semester seeking some way to replicate the involvement and activity that I had in my hometown. It was something that I just couldn't seem to find. That was when I got an opportunity of a lifetime. A new fitness studio in Athens, Georgia called Class Fitness reached out to me in need of a new barre teacher. This was my answer.
I immediately said yes and started my training to switch from Pure Barre to Class Fitness. I had found my new mental and physical challenge that would fulfill my search to be active and involved.
Fitness and teaching people to love themselves and their mind through fitness has been the biggest blessing of my life and has made me who I am!
