I love being surrounded by knowledge in all it's forms. To that extent I am passionate about libraries and their cultural role of preserving and providing access to information. My particular interests are in academic and special collections, with an emphasis on rare books and art collections. Books are the key to personal growth, learning, and exploration. Libraries are essential for people of all ages and backgrounds. I studied art history and museum practices as an undergraduate so it's not surprising that I find the history of books and libraries to be fascinating.
After having a good book to read, tea, and chocolate are life's essentials. My reading tastes are a bit eclectic, but my favorite genres are fantasy and modern fiction. I love to bake anything that goes in the oven, but especially cakes and breads. I enjoy cooking as well, and I'm always looking for new recipes to try. In combining my two life-long passions, I collect cookbooks with much enthusiasm. When I have time I like to make ceramics on the wheel. To relax I'm partial to knitting, especially while watching Doctor Who or exploring science fiction.
