Mary King

Mary King is a seasoned freelance writer with more than 350 online articles published on Suite101.com. She holds the titles of Feature Writer and Topic Editor for the section on Caregiver Support. She has written other articles on Florida living, hurricanes, environmental issues, living with teenagers, driver safety and much more. A wide variety of interests make her a flexible writer in both fiction and nonfiction settings.

An advocate for persons with disabilities, Mary King is the creator of The McFadden Novels, a character-driven family drama series that focuses on adopted teens and young adults, some with serious physical injury. Her head-on approach to realistic medical situations has received numerous praises from both medical experts and fans of her stories. Readers can find more about her work and read in-depth reviews of the books on her website, The Front Entrance and on her blogs (links provided below).

Ms King gained much of her love for rehab and medical technology through her work in a spinal cord rehabilitation center and in a cardio-pulmonary center, both in Florida. Her most valuable training, however, has come from close friends and professionals who selflessly give of their time and expertise. Mary has also worked in her home as a volunteer caregiver to friends. In 2001, a story about her caregiver work appeared in the Pensacola News Journal.

Mary King graduated with a B.S. in psychology from Jacksonville (FL) University in 1979. She loves writing, listening to classical music, reading and giving attention to her five adult children (3 have disabilities). She currently lives in northwest Florida.
