Mary Churchill
Higher Education Administration in Boston, Massachusetts
I am a passionate advocate for changing the future of higher education and I am fighting for women and people of color to have a central leadership role in that future. I started the University of Venus blog at Inside Higher Ed to create a space for the minority voices in higher education: women, minorities, contingent faculty, and graduate students. I am currently the incoming Vice President of Academic Affairs at Wheelock College in Boston. I have been working in higher education for over twenty-five years. I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology in 2004 and I started teaching in 1997. I was born into a working-class family in Flint, Michigan and I grew up in a house filled with UAW stickers, strikes, and lay-offs. I was taught to fight for change.
