Mary-Louise Nel
I am currently a full-time third year Bachelors of Education (Senior Phase and FET) student, specializing in the content areas Mathematics and Physical Sciences, at the well renowned University of Johannesburg, South Africa. I will be completing my studies in 2016, whereafter I hope to be employed by the Department of Basic Education in a public high school. I also aim to start on my honours degree in education. I matriculated with nine distinctions in 2012 at H/S Bastion in Krugersdorp, Gauteng. Having had the privilege to have undergone a very positive school education myself, I developed a passion for educating others as a high school pupil. Hence, I have worked part-time as a tutor since my first year at university in 2013. Currently I am employed by The Maths Center, based in Roodepoort, Gauteng, where I offer tutoring to learners in grades 3 - 12 in the content areas Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences, English and Afrikaans. I am also employed as a tutor by the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg. As a university student I have had the privilege to receive a number of awards including Top achiever for first and second year, respectively, in my course of study as well as Top Achiever in the module Mathematics for Teachers. Additionally I am a member of the Golden Key International Honors Society based on outstanding academic achievement. Other interests I hold lies in politics, culinary arts, literature, classical music and entertainment. I value my relationships with family and friends dearly.
