Community Artist and Storyteller

An introduction

As an artist, I'm drawn to the explorative and innocent nature of children's mark making. I am captivated by their freedom of expression and use of colour. My own practice includes incorporating their bright and impulsive designs creating distinct imaginative and original canvasses.

I'm a storyteller at heart so whether it's a paint brush or a puppet that I have in my hand I'm just looking for a way to share my story and discover yours. My stories are an irreverent take on tales old and new that allow role-playing and exploring diversity in character, narrative, and emotive response...it's all about rolling up your sleeves and joining in.

My Work

I am on a mission to spread the message that kid's art should be shown in galleries and not just pinned on fridges. With several years ...OK...around 20 years experience in children's creative development, special education and community arts my focus is developing spaces that stimulate creativity and develop connections between people, art and the environment.

Approach

The focus my creative workshops is to develop a connection between self and the environment through imaginative art exploration, often working with natural and recycled materials or just lying in the grass cloud watching and sharing the stories that pass through your mind.
