Mary Pat Hepp

A graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Mary Pat Hepp remained at the Normal, Illinois, institution to earn her Master’s degree. While Mary Pat Hepp earned a Master of Science in Special Education, she also minored in Psychology and School Health. She worked toward a PhD in Educational Psychology and School Administration at the University of Iowa, then continued courses at Teachers College at Columbia University in New York to study Neurosciences.

Beyond these credentials, Mary Pat Hepp also earned teaching certificates in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, Illinois, Iowa, New York, and New Jersey to teach general science, health, special education, psychology, and biology. Additionally, Mary Pat Hepp holds endorsements for educating students with learning disabilities, mental handicaps, and emotional difficulties. During Mary Pat Hepp’s career, she has worked with pupils ranging in age from kindergarten to college, managed LAN networks for some of her employers, handled budgets, drafted grant proposals, and helped design school gardens.

Today, Mary Pat Hepp brings her experience to Alexander Dawson School in Lafayette, Colorado. As a Science Teacher and Director of the middle school, Mary Pat Hepp both enlightens students and mentors the staff by participating in a number of activities. Mary Pat Hepp acts as the Chair of the Alliance for Character in Education, and also serves on other school committees including those focusing on developing curriculum, technology, faculty evaluation, and admissions procedures.

A world traveler, Mary Pat Hepp has visited several foreign countries and all 50 states. Several years ago, Mary Pat Hepp sang with a women's barbershop chorus in the Sweet Adelines International Singers World Championship at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
