Mary Spencer
Over the years, Mary Felicia Spencer has demonstrated her commitment to playing an active role in her community. A recent graduate of Clemson University, where she majored in English with an emphasis on writing and publication studies and minored in travel and tourism studies, Mary Felicia Spencer participated in numerous campus organizations during her time at the highly ranked public university. While excelling at her studies and working as a publishing intern at Skirt! Magazine, Mary Felicia Spencer also served in several leadership roles with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
As a member of Clemson University Ducks Unlimited, Mary Felicia Spencer raised money to help conserve waterfowl habitats. The home of Clemson's Waterfowl Demonstration and Research Site, Clemson University Ducks Unlimited has received praise for its fundraising. An avid athlete and member of the Clemson Sailing Club, Mary Felicia Spencer also contributed her time and energy to the I Pay Ten A Year (IPTAY) Collegiate Club, a booster club dedicated to supporting athletics at Clemson University.
During high school, Mary Felicia Spencer held multiple leadership positions at the Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills, Maryland. The captain of the varsity cross country and soccer teams at Garrison Forest School, Mary Felicia Spencer also interned for South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham in his Washington, DC office in 2003. In addition to assisting office staff, Mary Felicia Spencer's duties as intern included participating in event planning, responding to constituent letters, and leading guided tours of the Senate chambers and the Capitol Building.
Today, Mary Felicia Spencer continues to contribute to her community through her work with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Race for the Cure and her fundraising efforts for Safe Harbor, Inc., an organization based in Greenville, South Carolina, and dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence. She lives in Florence, South Carolina.
