Having overseen curriculum development in a number of Northern California school districts, Mary Streshly has emphasized fiscal and academic accountability throughout her time as an administrator. As Sequoia Union High School District superintendent, Mary Streshly emphasized a collaborative approach with stakeholder groups and the board of education through the pandemic. She also oversaw the implementation of dynamic plans for learning continuity and the reopening of schools.

As Campbell Union High School District assistant superintendent of educational services from 2012 to 2017, Ms. Streshly worked to increase community engagement. One key innovation was introducing an Early College Program in tandem with DeAnza College in the area of product design and manufacturing. Another focus was a redesign of the English Learner Program in ways that improved parent outreach and site resources, and boosted Latinx student completion rates.

Mary Streshly’s father, Dr. William A. “Bill” Streshly, had a prominent career in education as well, which culminated in professor emeritus distinction at San Diego State University and a position as dean of the School of Educational Leadership. Having passed away in early 2021, he leaves behind the William A. Streshly Memorial “Stretch” Scholarship, which is designed to assist students pursuing careers as public school educators.
