Mary Tasi
I have been a City of North Vancouver School Trustee since 2008, and am honoured to represent the community. An elder once said to me: "Be the student's voice at the table". As a City Planner and design consultant for over 20 years, I bring urban planning expertise which always looks holistically at an overall philosophy and guiding principles. I am proud to be part of the team process that created the new School District Strategic Plan, approved by the School Board after a year of extensive and meaningful consultation. I was instrumental in creating the District Fine Arts Committee, a classroom for autistic students, and participated in the Civic Engagement Task Force and Advisory Planning Commission. As Chair of the Towards the Future of Schools committee, my vision is to continue with innovative programming, and open dialogue that welcomes diversity and independent thought. If re-elected, I will continue to work with the team of trustees, staff, schools, and the community to improve achievement rates for all students, particularly in the vulnerable middle years, and work collaboratively to create a new school to meet the needs of those students who need an alternative school experience.
