Hi everyone!
My name’s Mashiat, but everyone knows me as Mash. This is my third year coaching with HSC CoWorks, and it’s been both a pleasure and a privilege. I graduated in 2011 with an ATAR of 98 from Sydney Girls High School. For my HSC, I studied English (Advanced), Maths Extension I and II, French Continuers, Chemistry and Economics. Looking back, I based my subject choices on my strengths, passions and interests, and encourage any students to do the same, in order to get the most out of the HSC year!
My HSC experience had its fair share of ups and downs, and I often struggled to balance the quantitative, analytical and creative disciplines of my diverse course load. However, I was also equally determined to maintain my commitment to competitive debating, public speaking and a 6-month placement with the Clinical Trials Department at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Concluding secondary education really affirmed to me the importance of being passionate, present and resilient with my personal learning and goals. These principles have proved fundamental throughout university, where I am about to commence my third year studying a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Economics at the University of New South Wales. In the future, I hope to combine the technical skills I have developed at university with my desire to deliver positive influence through engaging people.
In the long term, I aspire to live overseas at some point and travel a whole lot more (particularly to Eastern Europe). I have always been passionate about learning new languages, and hope to be fluent in at least five (2 more to go!).
As a Senior Coach and Team Leader at HSC CoWorks, I truly enjoy sharing my perspective with students, and aim to facilitate self-directed learning through a proactive and personalised approach. Overall, I feel very fortunate to be supported by such a driven team of fellow coaches. I can’t wait to work with you in kick starting your own journey up Mount HSC!!
