Jason Sandher
Therapist and Small Business Owner in Surrey, BC, Canada
Jason became a registered massage therapist in 2010. His first exposure to massage therapy was during his time playing cricket for the Canadian national cricket team. Following many muscles strains, he decided to try massage therapy to help rehabilitate his hamstring muscles. During this time he developed a passion for massage therapy because it has helped him a lot recover quickly from his injuries. From that moment he knew that he would day become an RMT himself. Following his cricket playing days, he began to study massage therapy at West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT). Learning techniques such as myofascial release and pin and stretch and general Swedish massage techniques. The education he received has helped him tremendously in treating patients in motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries. The knowledge he obtained has also helped him further his studies in chronic low back pain, ACL knee tears and migraine-related headaches and neck pain.
Jason now works as the head massage therapist at Seva Wellness Massage Therapy Surrey, BC. His experience with amateur athletes has led him to focus most of his practice on young athletes ranging from 11-22 years old. His passion is working with these young athletes and helping them achieve their athletic goals. He has worked as a cricket coach and helped mentor the next generation of Canadian cricketers. Jason also has a particular interest in baseball and hockey injuries. His scope consists of concussion management from head trauma injuries to common inversion sprained ankle injuries. Jason hopes to be able to work with more youth athletes looking to optimise their performance both mentally and physically. Given that Seva Wellness massage therapy Surrey has a gym space within the clinic itself, Jason likes to demonstrate proper rehab exercises and develop individualised programs to correct common sports injuries.
As well as working as an RMT, Jason has now begun teaching massage therapy to students at West Coast Massage Therapy. This experience has been the most rewarding being able to help mentor future RMT's. Not only does it allow Jason to pass on his experience, he also finds that he can learn from his students who display a great passion for massage therapy.
