My name is Masthan Shaik. I describe myself as a curious, fun loving, and adventurous person. These traits have came to me along with all my experiences in my life. I was born in India but spent most of my time growing up in various parts of the United States and Canada. Moving was a huge part of my life, and it allowed me to experience different climates, as well as cultures and ideologies. Making friends became both a job and a skill, but a lot of these friendships have not been able to grow deep until I moved to Georgia, where we have settled down for the past few years. I go out a lot with my friends, whether it be for eating, working out, or just messing around in irrelevant places. The picture is actually me riding a girl’s bike around Target upon the wish of my friends. Symbolically, it represents my curiosity and excitement for adventure. Obviously, such excitement got us kicked out of the store for creating a nuisance. However, it was funny experiences like these where we always did silly things that brought us closer together. Today, many of us have separated into own academic paths, many of which go to Georgia Tech for, while I joined the Dawg Nation. I am currently majoring in biochemistry, with an intent to go on to medical school. The experiences I have had making friends and creating deep connections have made me more enthusiastic to find more lifetime friends during my time at UGA. With this curiosity, I have taken the initiative to join various clubs that catch my interest, such as the American Medical Student Association and Indian Cultural Exchange, as well as associations that help me understand impending issues in campus and give me greater authority to solve them, such as the Student Government Association. With the diversity UGA offers in terms of academics, athletics, public service, and a social life, I believe that I am truly able to begin an adventure that will impact me forever.
