Founder & Adventure Travel Specialist. Mateo is a true outdoorsman who graduated from Zamorano University with an engineering degree in Environmental Sciences. Prior to founding Equatortrekking he worked as an environmental consultant for sustainable development projects in Ecuador and Honduras. Mateo’s love for the environment, the country of Ecuador and his desire to share that with others fueled his passion to create Equatortrekking. His personal travel experiences have taken him to the summit of numerous mountain peaks in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru and Scotland, as well as the Ecuadorian Andes, through the Amazon basin, along the La Ruta del sol on Ecuador’s Pacific coast, to the award winning Galapagos Islands, and into the depths of the sea as both a master diver and a dive guide. His vast personal travel experience in conjunction with his previous leadership roles make Mateo a natural expert when it comes to recommending adventure travel programs for his clients. His unique ability to combine the perfect mixture of active adventure and cultural experiences create dream vacations for those who travel with Equatortrekking. Mateo is based in Cumbaya where he spends his free time enjoying the extensive outdoor opportunities that Ecuador has to offer.
