Born in Kerala, called "Gods own land" in India.Schooling n college upto B.A, MA, M.Phil(Tata Institute, Mumbai) levels from India.Completed 72 graduate level credits from NYU and Columbia.Taught as an adjunct faculty in economics at Fordham in 1987-88. Obtained the Ph.D degree in economics from Mumbai University in 2008.The doctoral dissertation deals with an empirical/impact study of globalization focusing on the "urban Poor" in the informal labour market in Mumbai.
Served as professor in economics and head of economics department at the prestigious St.Xaviers college Mumbai for 30 years(1979-2010)
