Matluba Khan

Matluba Khan was born in a small town in the district of Narsingdi, 190 kilometer from Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh. She started her primary education in the experimental school of Raipura Primary Training Institute. She earned Higher Secondary Certificate from Holy Cross College. She completed her Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture from the leading University of Bangladesh- Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
After her B.Arch she joined as a Lecturer at Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. She conducts courses on Design Studio, Architectural Graphics and Sculpture. She teaches a theory course- Architectural Conservation to the 4th year students. She has joined as an Assistant Professor in the same department in October 2012. Matluba has been working as an Assistant Architect in the Bureau of Research, Testing and Consultation (BRTC) in BUET since 2009. More than five peer reviewed papers are published in national and international seminar and conference proceedings. Matluba is interested in Built-Environment Studies particularly on children’s learning environment focusing on behavioral issues. Her research experience includes a study on the outdoor learning environment of children at a primary school of Bangladesh which she completed in 2012 as a part of her M.Arch thesis dissertation. She has constructed an outdoor class at a primary school funded by BUET to investigate possibilities of outdoor as learning environment for primary school children.
Ms Matluba is a Candidate Member of Institute of Architects, Bangladesh. She is also a member of Architecture Alumni Association of BUET and Holy Cross College Alumni Association. She has been awarded first along with Ms Anindita Das in Berger Trave Grant Award 2007. She is now doing her PhD in the University of Edinburgh, UK.
