Matshidiso Mqubane
Student and Teacher in Katlehong, South Africa
Currently, I am studying B Ed in FET and Senior Phase. I am an introvert, very shy only around people I do not know, down to earth, calm and collected. Although I have introvert personality, I am a firm believer that I can use my voice to uplift an individual’s life. I may not be to change the world, but it is my goal to influence and change one’s life to the better and that is basically the reason out of many why I always wanted to become a teacher.
I want to be a democratic educator and not be too dominant over my learners. Put the interest of my learners first in the classroom. I do not want to hinder my learners or limit them, I want them to be free to share their views and opinions and be independent in their learning. I want to allow them to think on their own and not dictate what they must think or do. Liberate them both academically and socially to be the generation that brings the necessary change in our country.
What makes me get up in the morning is the motivation I have of finishing my degree and being a qualified graduate. Knowing that only hard work and determination can make me a better, successful person in future. Being goal orientated is my biggest motivation. I can only make my dreams a reality only by getting up in the morning and start preparing for my future today.
