Matt Hannigan

Matt Hannigan is a co-founder of The Sprout Fund and currently serves as its Deputy Director. For the first 3 years of the organization’s history, Matt directly administered Sprout’s flagship Seed Award program, which provides catalytic support of $500 to $10,000 to community projects. Matt has been involved in the creation and implementation of all of Sprout’s major programs, including the Public Art program, which helps artists and communities create collaborative works of art, Pittsburgh 250 Community Connections, a region-wide grantmaking program in commemoration of Pittsburgh’s 250th anniversary in 2008, and Spark, supporting media and technology projects for children birth to age 8. Through his work at Sprout and service on a variety of local, state, and national advisory panels, Matt has developed a keen interest in decisionmaking processes and fostering civic innovation through grantmaking. A Pittsburgher since moving to the region for graduate school in 2000, Matt lives in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of the East End.
