Matthew Busekroos

Boston, Massachusetts

I am originally from Shrewsbury, MA where I developed a love for writing. I explored that passion further earning a B.A. in Journalism from Quinnipiac University.

I spent three years producing and editing at ABC News for "Good Morning America" where I earned two Emmy Award nominations.

I am currently a contributing writer for Backstage Magazine.

I spent four years on the editorial board of the official student-run newspaper, The Quinnipiac Chronicle. I ran the newspaper as Publisher my senior year.

The New England Society of Newspaper Editors named The Quinnipiac Chronicle College Newspaper of the Year ('11-'12) during my tenure in charge. The Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists later awarded The Quinnipiac Chronicle 19 awards in the news, opinion, features and photography categories in May 2012. SPJ awarded me third place in the Opinion/Editorial category for my response to Yale student Alex Fisher, who condemned Quinnipiac students in an editorial. I received an honorable mention for my feature, "This is Me: In my own words" at the 2013 awards in the feature category.

I interned at the Connecticut Post during the summer of 2011. I pitched stories for the features department, as well as wrote and edited articles for submission.
