I am currently enrolled at Eastern Michigan University. I am student teaching at Saline High School before I graduate in December 2013. I am teaching Honors English 10, College Writing, and Debate, and I am involved with the Debate Team and the annual Poetry Out Loud recitation contest. At the end of the day (and when I can during the day), I reflect on teaching through transmediations and engaging multimodalities in the classroom, I think about how I can model lifelong reading, writing, and learning for my students, I engage technologies and constantly discover how I can use them in the classroom, and I observe, research and analyze popular culture and music, young adult literature, and literary/cultural theory. I see life as always being two things: 1) a constant invitation to learn, and 2) a constant rock concert experience. I strive to bring these experiences to my classroom. I want to be a true "rock star" teacher: I want that moment when I point the microphone out into the audience and they know all the words. Read more of my reflections on my blog, and see some examples of how I have invited students to join in these experiences in my e-portfolio.
