Matthew Crofton

In the summer of 2010 I was given 48 hours to live. I contracted a rare disease while exploring caves in Costa Rica. My organs shut down and I was bleeding out of every hole in my face. I endured a two week coma, three months in the hospital and four months learning how to walk again.

Now, one year later, I am taking a stand up paddleboard (SUP) down the entire length of the Mississippi River in an attempt to shatter the world paddleboarding record and to raise money for the hospital that kept me alive. I will also pen the story of my amazing adventure from death bed to the Mighty Miss in my book, The Mighty Journey.
