Since 2016 I have been a part of the senior leadership team at Avanti House Secondary School in Stanmore (London Borough of Harrow).

Key role & responsibilities:

- Whole school quality of education lead providing an outstanding curriculum supported by high quality teaching and learning and assessment
- Delivering cross-trust CPD - "Curriculum Design for Middle Leaders"
- Chairing a trust working party developing a KS3 assessment and feedback strategy
- Quality nominee and Lead verifier for all BTEC and functional skills qualifications
- Senior lead to a variety of subject areas including English, Maths and Science
- EPQ co-ordinator
- Leading on the KS4 options process
- Leading on cover within the school
- Level 3 Safeguarding trained. Part of the school safeguarding team

Prior to leading on the quality of education, I was the Pastoral lead at Avanti House and developed a culture of inclusive behaviour management in line with 'The Avanti Way'. This included the effective use of restorative practices across the school. Our inclusive behaviour management was accredited by Challenge Partners as an area of excellence in 2020. In this role I also lead on personal development and coordinated all extra-curricular opportunities including trips and visits.

From 2011-2016 I was the Head of Music (Associate Head of Faculty) at Kingsbury High School in North West London. I was responsible for the curriculum and extra-curricular provision for approximately 2,000 students. I have previously taught at Claremont High School, St Joan of Arc RC School, West Thames College, and at the London College of Music. I have experience of teaching both music and music technology at Key Stage 3, GCSE, BTEC National Diploma, First Diploma, and A-Level. I have previously been responsible for developing relationships with the English National Opera, a local special needs school and a number of local feeder primary schools.

I have completed an MA in Music Education at the Institute of Education. My dissertation was titled: - Can the online sharing of students' music promote increased engagement, attainment and ownership in music education?

I am a Saxophonist & keyboard player and have performed in bands covering a number of genres including Acid Jazz, Jazz, Funk, & Jive. Most notably I played Saxophone for one of the UK's leading Jive Bands 'The Jive Cats' from 2003-2006.
