He is known for his work in physical theatre, drama education, movement-based performance, and visual storytelling. Alongside his educational career, he has published literary work and released original music on major digital streaming platforms.
Early life and education
Matteo Samir was born in Egypt on 18 February 1990. He developed an interest in theatre and performance arts at an early age and later pursued extensive professional training in physical theatre, mime, puppetry, clowning, movement, dance, and devised theatre. He has completed more than 2,600 hours of specialized training in physical theatre and related performance disciplines.
Career
Samir has worked for more than a decade as a drama educator in international schools, teaching theatre across primary and middle school levels. His educational practice combines physical theatre techniques with inquiry-based learning, emphasizing creativity, collaboration, ensemble performance, and storytelling through movement.
As a theatre practitioner, he has directed and performed in productions that explore non-verbal storytelling, visual composition, and contemporary physical theatre practices. His work is influenced by movement-based performance traditions and focuses on the expressive relationship between the body, space, and narrative.
