Matthew Gourlay, CGCS
I am a Certified Golf Course Superintendent providing world class golfing conditions at Hillcrest Country Club. I have an advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods; and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
Being in the golf business is a family tradition. My father is a General Manager at the #1 daily fee course in Kansas; my mother owned and operated the first soil testing lab in Canada and helped write the 1993 USGA greens mix reccomendations; my grandfather was a golf course superintendent for over 50 years; my uncle is a golf instructor in Florida; another uncle built golf courses; my brother-in-law is a golf professional. Gourlay's were the best in the world at making feathery golf balls and golf clubs during the 1800's. Old Tom Morris even married a Gourlay. Golf has been in my family for generations.
