So I’d like to let you know a little bit about myself, because after all, if you knew nothing about me then why would you care about, like, my opinion man. Since I was a wee young lad I’ve had a fascination with film. I’ve probably got my uncle to thank for this (cheers Clayton!), as one of my earliest memories is making a ghost movie starring my sister (who was 3), my brother (who was 7) and I (5). That combined with the hundreds of VHS tapes, movie figurines and other assorted memorabilia he owned really drew my interest. My dream job is to take this passion and one day become a well recognised critic of film. I know film criticism may be a dying profession in the internet age, given the subjective opinions being put on show, but at the end of the day, film is still an art, and the demand for an informed opinion is still out there. If people are going to be spending more money to watch movies every year then I will be very happy to tell them where to (and more importantly not to) spend their hard earned. Throughout the course of my studies I aim to increase my writing, film making and film analysis skills. Attending various workshops and presentations, volunteering in various media roles and becoming a more active participant on the blogosphere alongside my university commitments will give me these skills as well as a sound network base to begin with.
