Matthew Wheadon
Therapist in Bristol, United Kingdom
Life is rarely entirely straightforward and having an opportunity to explore and reappraise difficulties in a therapeutic setting can lead to new perspectives and new ways of approaching our relationship to ourselves, the people in our lives, our histories and our possible futures.
As an integrative and existential counsellor I draw on many psychotherapeutic and psychological perspectives to help my clients better understand their situation.
My way of working is principally relational and client-centred, that is to say that I that I feel that the most relevant solutions are created together in an effective therapeutic relationship and that I have a firm belief in people's ability to identify what distresses them, how they wish to work and what they wish to work towards.
I work from a quiet and discreet office on Queen Square in Bristol's centre but also online. Please feel free to contact me by email or phone if you would like to organise an introductory meeting to discuss your situation.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and graduate member of the British Psychological Society I adhere to their ethical and practical guidelines, keep up-to-date with new research and practice, undergo regular continued professional development and attend regular supervision. I am also a member of the Universities Counselling and Psychotherapies Association and a trainee member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy.
I originally trained and qualified in Integrative Counselling and am a registered member of the . I have since completed a postgraduate qualification in Psychology and more recently qualified as an Open Dialogue network (family) therapist. I am presently undergoing further professional studies in existential psychotherapy as well as a doctorate in counselling psychology.
