Matt is Global Managing Partner for Generative AI within IBM Consulting, and is a member of IBM Consulting’s Global Leadership Team. Matt is responsible for bringing Generative AI enterprise-wide solutions powered by IBM's watsonx technology and those of IBM's ecosystem partners (e.g. Adobe, AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, and others), to clients around the world to deliver meaningful business outcomes beyond improved productivity and efficiencies, to better experiences and new business models. This era of 'AI for Business' will be defined by the successful partnership between people, AI and the experiences we put in their hands, anchored in trust and strong governance. Matt is also driving the Generative AI strategy, adoption & enablement of 160,000 consultants within IBM Consulting.
With over 25 years of consulting experience at PwC (prior to acquisition) and IBM, Matt’s previous role was as Global Leader and Managing Partner of IBM iX, the experience design and customer transformation group within IBM Consulting. Working at the intersection of strategy, design, technology, and operations, Matt led a team of over 23,000 creators and makers across a global network of 60 studios and 75+ delivery centres, who employ a human-centered approach to business design that accelerates innovation and transformation at scale. Matt led the creation, growth and scaling (organically and inorganically) of the IBM iX business for over a decade, working out of the UK. IBM iX is dedicated to creating impactful experiences for clients across multiple industries worldwide.
Prior to this, Matt has spearheaded complex multi-channel and digital transformation engagements for clients across various industries. As a graduate in Computer Science and a technologist at heart, Matt found his passion in design and the connection between creativity and technology, and holds a post-graduate diploma in Strategy & Innovation from the University of Oxford Saïd Business School.
An inductee of the BIMA 100 Digital Hall of Fame and a prior recipient of ‘Individual of the Year’ in The Drum’s Digerati, Matt is a frequent public speaker and blogger on the impact of design-driven business reinvention, customer experience, and digital transformation. As a thought leader, Matt has contributed to publications such as Bloomberg, CNBC, and The Future of Business amongst others.
