Matthew Cautero

Currently enrolled in the Anderson School of Business at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Matthew Cautero is scheduled to earn a Master of Business Administration in 2013. With a concentration in finance, Mr. Cautero continues to immerse himself in the discipline. He was recently selected as a 2011 Fink Center Investment Banking Fellow; only three are chosen each year. Since his graduation from Yale University in 2006, Matthew Cautero has gained valuable business and finance experience. While his professional career may be brief at this point, it is nonetheless noteworthy. Matthew Cautero entered the workforce shortly after he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale. He joined Lazard Freres & Co. in 2006 as a Senior Analyst in the Private Fund Advisory Group. The international company is one of the largest firms handling financial advisory and asset management services. These services include advice on strategic matters, corporate finance, capital-raising, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring. In addition, Lazard assists individuals, corporations, governments, partnerships, and institutions with asset management. During his tenure at Lazard, Matthew Cautero advised private equity sponsors on a number of financial strategies, including fund positioning relative to competitors and overall capital-raising. He also helped manage over $10 billion in private equity fundraising mandates and calculated investment multiples and internal rates of return for clients. Matthew Cautero worked in the New York City office of the company. In 2009, Matthew Cautero accepted an offer to become an Investment Associate for the Office of Investments of the University of Pennsylvania. Located in Philadelphia, the pioneering American university hired Mr. Cautero to contribute to the Private Equity and Absolute Return portfolios. While employed at the school, Matthew Cautero was responsible for the analysis of a variety of funds within the Associated Investments Fund, the University’s endowment portfolio. He created and implemented quantitative models, analyzed investment manager positions, reported on asset allocation and performance to the Investment Board, and fostered company valuations and financial models to accomplish his goals. Currently attending graduate school at UCLA, Matthew Cautero enjoys several interests in his personal time.
