It is mused that real life is the strangest fiction, and how right that is. Everyday we encounter people and challenges that drive us to become all that we can be.
One such chance encounter led me to develop my creative writing skills and within a fortnight I had constructed the premise for my first novel - "Rediscovering Daniel". That book, and it's timeless cast, have given me more than any royalty payment ever could, and was my starting point for what has been a fantastic and vivid journey into fiction and publishing. For me, writing has to matter, has to be personal because if I as the author fail to connect with the story and its cast, then how can I expect the audience to? Writing is an art form - one with reasonably strict rules (which, by the way, are completely ok to break on occasion - in fact, I encourage it!), but the rewards are largely beyond measure.
It is through this passion for writing that I found one of my best friends - Claire-Louise Clements, who is also a keen writer and artist. These shared interests ultimately led us to forming our own companies which aim to promote a new generation of fiction and design. With a rhino looking after one and a dodo managing the other (yes, we're quite eccentic - and, by chance, both happen to love "Murder She Wrote") our joint ventures are poised to offer something really fresh and exciting to the world.
Always follow your dreams. Always remember that the only limit in art is your own imagination. Never limit yourself to bourgeois conventions. Imagination is inifinite.
