Matthew D. Smith

My purpose is to help organizations reach their full potential by analyzing operations, identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and then crafting solutions. To this end, I've successfully improved efficiency and significantly cut costs at the Baker lab at the University of Washington. I love training, managing, and leading teams to help my organization achieve extraordinary outcomes. I've worked on a great team to lead the University of Washington iGEM team for two years. During these two years, the undergraduate team which I helped mentor has been extremely successful, first winning a gold medal and “Best Health or Medicine Project”, and this year winning a gold medal and being named Regional Winner for the Americas. My goal is a position in biotech, finance, or development that leverages my strengths in these areas. I love traveling and working with people from many cultures.
