Matt Fortune

Whately, Massachusetts

I'm a junior resource economics major studying at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I hope to turn my interests in cooking and homebrewing into a career at a brewery or brewpub. I currently brew both beer and hard cider and have added recipes from all over the world to my ever expanding repitoire.

I am employed at Big Y foods as a cashier trainer and service desk attendant. I enjoy working with customers and have really developed by customer service and interaction skills in my time there.

Besides work and school, I am also an founding father of the Eta Mu chapter of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) at Umass Amherst. I've served as the Treasurer, and as the chair of the brotherhood, recruitment and social committees.

I also volunteer regularly for various organizations including Craig's Place (local homeless shelter), Amherst Survival Center, Relay for Life, UDance, Red Cross, USO, and others.

For fun, I enjoy rooting for the Patriots, partying with my friends, reading books about American history, playing the cello, and karaoke.
