Matthew Hollibush

An accomplished teacher education professional, Matthew Hollibush began his career by enrolling at the University of Nevada. He studied secondary education with an English teaching major and a history teaching minor. He then entered the teaching profession as an instructor of high school literature and composition courses at Vallejo High School in Vallejo, California. In this role, Matthew Hollibush successfully implemented a reciprocal teaching program in reading and writing, mentoring fellow teachers in its use at the district and site levels.

During this time, Matthew Hollibush also studied for and received his Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Sacramento. He reported on his success with reciprocal teaching methods in his thesis, graduating with his degree in 2003. In 2005, Matthew Hollibush left his teaching position at Vallejo High School to pursue doctoral work at The University of Utah. While in Utah, Dr. Hollibush served as a graduate teaching assistant, instructing on topics such as student diversity, content area literacy instruction, and field practicum. He also worked as a graduate assistant on two endeavors, a Spencer Foundation grant project focusing on critical discourse analysis among teacher education students and an internal project aiming to unify the college's various outreach efforts.

Matthew Hollibush currently serves as a full-time Assistant Professor at Mount Saint Mary College. He continues to share his knowledge of language arts learning topics, including a 2009 presentation at the Association of Teacher Educators on teaching for high literacy. He currently lives in New York State with his wife, three children, and a miniature schnauzer.
