Matthew T. Kuhn is a medical device entrepreneur specializing in medical device innovation and serial venture creation.
He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Taurus Vascular, a venture launched out of the Texas Medical Center Biodesign Program to address the significant clinical challenge of Type II endoleaks following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). He is also the Founder of Skybound Medtech a company pioneering dual-use biomedical technologies for both terrestrial health and space medicine applications.
Matthew Kuhn worked at the Johnson & Johnson Center for Device Innovation (CDI). In this unique, hybrid R&D setting, he led the accelerated development of novel device platforms and helped create the core intellectual property that enabled the spin-out of companies including Prana Thoracic (surgical oncology) and Shield Medical (cardiac electrophysiology).
His early engineering roles at Ethicon (a Johnson & Johnson company), Siemens Healthcare, and Rex Medical provided him with deep expertise in the core disciplines of medical device R&D, product engineering, and high-volume manufacturing. An inventor on over 50 U.S. patent applications, Matthew Kuhn has been instrumental in securing over $5.6 million in funding across multiple ventures. He holds a Master of Bioengineering from Rice University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
