Matthew Linhart

Student in Athens, GA

I spent the first 18 years of my life living in Phoenix, Arizona. A city where I take much pride in calling my home, but by the end of high school, I was ready for a change.

Having gone to summer camp in North Carolina and my mother from Charleston, South Carolina, I always had a special love for the South. In my sophomore year of high school, I came across the University of Georgia and have not looked back since. Georgia is a different environment than Arizona, but I have adjusted well to the change thus far. I am a social person who loves trying new things and meeting new people, and the University of Georgia has allowed me to develop into the person I strive to be. Since my enrollment at the University of Georgia, I have joined a fraternity, become a bartender, and joined numerous Terry-run business clubs. On top of that, I spent the first month of this past summer in Tel Aviv, Israel, for a UGA study Abroad program for entrepreneurship. We spoke with various Israeli hi-tech CEOs and traveled all over the country. Having the experiences that I bring to UGA from coming from out of state, as well as taking advantage of the opportunities that UGA offers, allow me to differentiate myself and develop my own unique story.

Although I miss the hot Arizona dry heat every day, especially with this humidity, The University of Georgia has allowed me to blossom as a student and an individual.
